Welcome to MOG…
Please read everything on the page. It looks like a lot but I promise there are just a few rules that are really broken down because people like loopholes. It’s really standard stuff.
We have 4 Commissioners. Steve runs the show, Juan is #2 and keeps the show rollin’, Jesse will be keeping the league active, and Tony does trades with Juan and makes sure no one is pulling any funny stuff behind the scenes. It is tough to put EVERYTHING on one page. We haven’t run into EVERY situation, so if we say something goes then that’s how it goes. Most everything is on this page but it is our discretion when it comes to new issues.
If you have any issues with something, PMing us is always the best way to go. Starting stuff on the FB wall usually doesn’t go as well.
PRE-GAME RULES
PREVIOUS PLAY INFO = OFF
Just one of those things we have done for years. Turn off previous play.
To avoid a LOT of bitching we are NOT ALLOWING PREVIOUS PLAY INFORMATION.
If you are found using Prev. Play then we will suspend ONE offensive AND ONE defensive player of our choice.
No need for the game to hold your hand …never needed these handicaps before. This means you are suppose to go into Setting… Scroll down and turn OFF Previous Play Information.
Coaching Tree limitations:
SUPERSTAR & X-FACTOR ABILITY:
You may change these abilities, BUT no 2 players can have the same abilities or xfactors. This means you need to be stratigic. You can change these abilities at any time, but just make sure every person has their own abilities. (ex: Hill may not have MOSSED if Hardman also has MOSSED)
O-Line has a special acception. There are only 14 abilities for OL. Each OL can have 4 abilities which means if you have 5 Superstars, you would have to duplicate abilities. To counter this, you will only be allowed to duplicate the following abilities:
- Threat Detector
- Unspun
NO OTHER ABULITIES MAY BE DUPLICATED. This is ONLY for OL at the moment.
BANNED ABILITIES:
- Slight of Hand (QB)
- OMAHA (QB X-Factor)
- MIND READER (MLB X-Factor)
- Freight Train (RB X-Factor)
POSITION CHANGES:
We will go by the GAMES ORIGINAL GIVEN POSITION. This means if you want to make a CB into a LB, you MAY NOT change him into a SS first and then make him a LB. You may move a player BACK to his original position (as long as the rules allow it).
*Can Play means you may insert that player into your depth chart and play in game at that position.

Editing Player Positions
Commissioner’s Review Window
From the end of the Free Agency to the start of Week 8 in the regular season we will give you a window to ask the admins for permission to move a player that is listed as “NO EDIT* | CAN PLAY“.
This will be a real review process where the admins will make sure you are not STACKING players to gain speed or any other sort of boosts from the coaching tree. We will also be looking to make sure you are not trying to take advantage of contracts.
This does not apply to OLB to OLB, S to S, DE to DE because they are pre-approved moves. No permission is needed for those moves at any time.
After the trade deadline (week 8), NO MORE POSITION CHANGES ARE ALLOWED.
(we will allow NEW PLAYERS to the league to adjust their lineup)
YOU CAN MOVE PLAYERS AS MUCH AS YOU WANT IN YOUR DEPTH CHART (again as long as it follows our rules on changes)
SCHEDULING GAMES
To get a sim you must show that you TRIED to get in contact with your opponent. This doesn’t mean you message them the day of advance. I want to see a post or a PM the day before advance or the first day of advance.
If a person doesn’t answer your Post or Message then switch it up and Post to them if you originally PMed them (vice versa). If you have an agreed time to play and you miss it then try to set up a new time, but if that is not possible then the person who was stood up gets the win. (example: on a Monday advance, you set up to play on Tuesday at 4pm. If you miss the game then your opponent gets the win, even if you are available the next 24 hours until Wednesday at advance and the other dude can make it.)
– Do not set up a time that you can not make.
– If you know you can’t make a game, message your opponent ASAP.
*you are busy… I get it but you aren’t the only one involved. Hit the guy up and tell him you will be late.
If you do not make an attempt to notify your opponent BEFORE your scheduled game, the opponent who was stood up gets the OPTION to take a force (not play CPU). He can also choose to play still if you can come to another agreed time.
**NOTE** This will be for games that are REALLY postponed. As the person being stood up, give them a few minutes to be late. I am not going to make it so you have to be ON THE DOT. But if the game is at 8pm and you dude hits up up at 815 to tell you it will be 2 more hours, then you have the right. Message an admin and SHOW PROOF.
DCed Games
We leave it up to you to figure it out at first. You can restart at 0-0, you can restart and give a player points if they were up, you can play a portion of the game. We allow you to come to an agreement as adults.
If you cannot come to an agreement, ask an admin and we will decide for you.
If you START a game and it is DCed in any sorta way, you cannot play the CPU instead. You can reschedule and play that person but one person can’t allow the other to play the CPU just because they were winning or for any reason. You can give the Force Win though. YOU CAN play the CPU if the other person quits the league or gets booted from the league during your game.
Trading
Scroll down this page and you will find our trade post. Post all trades there and let us know there is a trade waiting for approval. POSTED TRADES ARE FINAL EVEN IF THEY HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED YET.
Juan and Tony will be in charge of determining if a trade is good or not. They are final word… that’s it. If they ask you to change the trade then do that, but once a trade has been declined you are welcome to back out and not work on it.
If you accept a trade BEFORE it is approved by Juan Vargas or Anthony Medeiros, your trade will be REVERSED… meaning you offer the players back… YOU TAKE THE CAP HIT, and you will no longer to make a deal for the same players with the current player for 1 season.
This will not be the case DURING DRAFTS as they are time-sensitive. We will go over those deals though and make sure they are good.
NO NAME CHANGING
No one is allowed to change any player’s name at any time. Seems weird but I have my reasons…
NO EDITING HANDS
No editing a player’s dominant hand. Lefty or Righty never changes.
No Releasing and Immediate Picking up
If you release a player you must wait 1 MADDEN WEEK before you can pick him back up IF YOU SO CHOOSE to do that.
Dropping a player and picking him back up immediately will not be allowed anymore.
If there is an accidental drop then let us know.
BUT TO BE CLEAR… you must wait a Madden week to pick up a player from free agency that you released.
IN-GAME RULES
If you have a problem with your opponent (they are breaking rules), try to hit them up on the mic in the game or pause the game and send them a text.
If you still have problems, finish the game out (or pause) and then contact a commish. Don’t take the complaints directly to the message board as that just creates drama. You may talk shit about players and make fun of their gameplay, but if you have an actual complaint then you MUST message me privately or else I won’t deal with it. If you post about a rule break on the public boards, I will suspend one of your players. We will take care of all rules without the mob being involved. I want to get all the information before I make a ruling on it…MESSAGE ME PRIVATELY
1) Don’t quit.
Seriously, don’t…for any reason. It has led to booting from the league or MASSIVE player suspensions of like 16 games.
2) Hurry Up Offense.
Don’t run hurry-up offense unless it’s under two minutes in either half OR you are trailing in the 4th.
3) 4th Down
- You MAY go for 4th and 2 or less when the ball is on your opponent’s side of the field (not on the 50)
- LOSING in the 4th (not tied) you can go for 4th down anywhere on the field no matter the yardage.
- In the 4th quarter ONLY, in a close game (leading by 4 points or less) you may go for 4th & INCHES on your side of the field. Standard 4th down rule applies once you cross the 50.
- In the LAST 3 minutes of a game, inside the opponent’s 10 yard line, AND winning or losing by 3 points you may go for any 4th. (do or die situation)
- In overtime, no 4th down rules.
4) Don’t glitch, nano, or anything like that.
It’s taking advantage of the game, and it’s not permitted. Every new game has its glitches. We may not know what they are until we see it. There will be suspensions for those to take advantage of something that is not listed yet.
- 4a) All Defensive Line players may not be manually taken off the line to blitz or play coverage PRE-SNAP. They may play coverage, but get into it from their position on the line. You can shift your DLine, but you may not move a DE or DT from their spot to a spot inbetween other DLinemen. There is a difference between this and the psycho formations. If you play a LB at LE/RE, they are not LBs anymore so dont take them off the line pre-snap.
- 4b) Linebackers may be moved all over the field pre-snap, however, you may not place them inbetween D-Lineman pre-snap. Edges are ok but not in the gaps. You are allowed to “shoot” the gap, but you cannot rest your player in the gap. Our gauge will be that the LB MUST NOT cover up any part of a DL’s ass pre-snap. Must be behind at all times.
5) Mix up the play calls.
You don’t have to use every single play in the playbook, but you must mix up your offenssive playcalling. What does this mean…
- Simple version… Don’t call the SAME PLAY 3,4,5 (not specific numbers, just example) times in a drive/in a row.
- Version for sneaky people… Calling a different play each time but audibling into crossing routes is still the same as calling the same play over and over (example, can be any route you are repeatitivly using). This is something that is tougher to call and we understand this sort of thing happens so we may be more lenient on it, but abuse is obvious and will be handled.
This now includes running with the QB. You MAY run with the QB and you MAY roll out with the QB but you MAY NOT do it all game. I will consider that an abuse. So learn to stay in the pocket a little bit.
We are looking for abuse. We WILL NOT go after someone who uses a play multiple times in a game if they are mixing up their play calling and have a go to play. No, you need to stop that. If they are going to that play every other time then yes that can be considered a repeatitive play call. THIS IS THE SAME IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN, we are just spelling it out for you. We understand that some opponents may run Defeses that allow you to do something on Offense easily. There are different plays and routes to attack that part of the field.
This rule does not apply to defense.
6) D-Line Rushing
You must rush at least 3 defenders on every play, and QB spies don’t count. They don’t have to be 3 D-Linemen, but there needs to be 3.
7.) 2 pt conversions
CAN be done ANYTIME AFTER the 1st half. Never in 1st or 2nd quarter.
8.) Offensive Motion
You can motion but you MUST come to a complete stop before calling hike. This has been something that has been around for years and I thought it was covered in the “dont do anything glitchy” section. Alas, I was wrong. Motion player must come to a spot and stop then you may hike the ball. This prohibits people from gaining a head start on a route since it throws the DBs out of whack and it prohibits players from getting a running on blocks on the edge.
- Exceptions to motion rule: Some plays are MADE this way. Those plays ARE allowed. Please do not try to say that the play calls for it because it is a simple thing to see when it is meant to happen compared to when it is manually done. I would also say USE SPARINGLY to avoid any confusion and bitching.
9.) Receptions Rules
* I hold the right to adjust these if people choose to look for loopholes.
Tier 1: If a PLAYER has 11 or more Receptions in a game…
- You must have 1 other player (second player) with +5 receptions as well
- Second player must have more than 25 yards receiving.
- Second player must NOT be a running back.
Tier 2: If a PLAYER has 15 or more Receptions in a game…
- You must have 1 other player (second player) with +7 receptions as well.
- Second player must have more than 50 yards receiving.
- Second player must NOT be a running back.
Tier 3: If a PLAYER has 18 or more Receptions in a game…
- You must have 1 other player (second player) with +10 receptions as well.
- Second player must have more than 75 yards receiving.
- Second player must NOT be a running back.
Penalty
- Tier 1 = 1 game (Maybe leniency if there is an obvious attempt to follow the rule. Up to commish. Any factors commish feels are relevant can come into play. Don’t assume anything)
- Tier 2 = 2 games (No leniency)
- Tier 3 = 3 games (No leniency)
10.) Ball Swapping
You are not allowed to swap the ball repetitively while running down the field to take advantage of a glitch that gives you extra speed and stamina. You can still switch hands but you cannot do it over and over.
SPORTSMANSHIP / BLOWOUT ETIQUETTE
No one likes to get blown out of games. The following guidelines are here so that you don’t make it worse than it already is.
When do you have to slow down?
Play as hard as you want for the FIRST HALF. At the end of the day, we have fun playing the game. No one considers it “FUN” to run out clock SO you get one half of no mercy.
If you are up in the 2nd HALF by 24-28 points AND you get the ball to start the half, you may play to score without limitations (too much time and with momentum anything can happen).
If you are up more than 28 points in the second half (excluding the previous rule) START SLOWING DOWN/RUNNING CLOCK.
What do we mean when we say “Slow Down/run clock”?
- Turn on chew clock
- Run-on 1st & 2nd down
- Passes on 3rd down should be short passes to get 1sts (NOT DEEP PASSES)
- Stop passing while up 35 points no matter what down
Can you score? Yes, but within reason. If you are hitting 60 points…STOP SCORING
If you get an interception you can take it in for a TD, but again I don’t want to see a 70-100pt game even IF you had 4 def TDs.
WARNING: It’s entirely possible to run out almost a full quarter by following these steps. You will not convince me that you couldn’t help but to score 28 in the 4th.
Are there exceptions?
Sure, if you and the person you are playing know each other and are in direct communication, then you can stretch things out a little bit. If the losing player wants you to play hard then COMMUNICATE.
That doesn’t mean you can score 100 pts. It just means that you can mix in some pass plays here and there.
They may not care (most guys don’t), but I do and I still don’t want that to happen.
RULE OF THUMB… if you have no direct communication or if you don’t know the opponent well then it is better to be safe than sorry. Follow the guidelines. No reason to chance to piss someone off by thinking they don’t care.
AS THE LOSING PLAYER…
- DO NOT CALL TIMEOUTS at the end of the game
- DO NOT RUN COMMIT because you know they are supposed to run
- DO NOT ALL-OUT BLITZ
If you are losing by 35 or more GOING INTO THE 4th quarter, you should only be running. No more passing.
Listen, a lot of the time the scores get out of control is because YOU are passing still trying to throw a 28pt Touchdown (those don’t exist so stop).
Also, if you are the LOSER orrrrr the WINNING player, you should tell the person you are clocking OR if you want them to clock the ball in situations where the other is throwing or calling TOs.
COMMUNICATE with the player rather than come to me after the game saying “he kept calling TO” or “he kept throwing”.
As they were before, these are guidelines and not so much RULES.
However, disregarding these guidelines could result in a suspension of a player of my choosing.
DO NOT QUIT… I will suspend/boot you. Not them.
CPU GAME STAT PADDING RULES
THESE ARE FOR CPU GAMES ONLY… within sportsmanship rules, you can get any stats against a real player.
***IMPORTANT: You aren’t allowed to LOSE CPU games. You may quit a CPU game as many times as it takes to get a win OR you can just take the fair sim. You may not tank these games.
Please note that Yards stats have a RANGE. Don’t go over the range, please. When you hit the first limit hold up before you hit the next. It’s there so you know when to quit it. We understand yards are harder to keep track of – ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO BREAK A TD RULE.
Report anyone breaking rules to Steve, Juan, Jesse,
QB STATS:

TEAM STATS:

- 300-350 total rushing
- Receiving (see passing stats)
- No more than 50-60 offensive points
Break a team rule
- Top Rated player and or starting player at that position will be sat for 1 game Versus non CPU player
- 2nd offence op Rated player and or starting player at that position 3 games (at least one game VERSUS non CPU player)

If a player plays during his suspension, the player is taken off the team for 16 games(no one will be able to use this player for the 16 games)
That’s about it. There aren’t a lot of rules, because the type of guys we allow in the league play real, sim football so we don’t plan on having any problems. Good luck everyone, and enjoy your time here. It’s only a game.
BROKEN RULE REPERCUSSIONS...
- For In-Game Rule Violations I will sit the most impactful player will be sat (chosen by commish). The guy that will affect your game the most. If a CPU Stat padding rule is broken then I will sit the player that broke that rule.
- 2nd offence of same violation 3 games (at least one game VERSUS non CPU player)
- 3rd offence 16 games (playoffs DO count … You are not allowed to drop a player and if he is a FA you must sign him OR we will discuss an alternate player to take the rest of the suspension (my discretion) – If a player plays during his suspension, the player is taken off the team for 16 games(no one will be able to use this player for the 16 games)
We have a set of rules and penalties for breaking the rules, but in special situations, I reserve the right to DROP THE HAMMER and give out a penalty that fits the crime. Special situations are ones we don’t see coming (i.e. Alvaro tricking a guy to quit so his RB wouldn’t be hurt).
If you have a REAL complaint about someone in the league (gameplay or rules). DO NOT POST ABOUT IT FIRST. Come to a commish first so we can handle it without bringing the Mob into it.
IF you are just trying to talk shit then do that. Shit talking is fine. But if you are complaining about something on the boards without coming to me first, I will see it as JUST shit talk.
